Wānaka Springs – Wharenui Uara Kapua

In Māori Wharenui translates to meeting place, Uara means value or ideas and experience exchange and Kapua means cloud or life-giving rain. When combined in our context it is a place where people gather to exchange experiences, ideas, and work together.

Uara Kapua is the company that operates the business. In addition to accommodation Uara Kapua provides mentoring and investment in people starting new businesses in the local area. We encourage working together to deliver good outcomes that are a win-win for all involved.

Wānaka Springs uses 100% renewable hydro energy, a benefit of the numerous lakes and rivers in the area. We are constantly looking for new ways to be more environmentally responsible whilst still providing a superior service and place for you to stay. We encourage you to walk or bike around the area where possible and provide 2 mountain bikes for guest use.

A portion of our revenue is used to actively fund and support NZ Avalanche Search Dogs. This super important team of people and dogs work untiringly, volunteering their time and energy to improve mountain safety and of course search for and rescue people in distress.

A portion of our revenue also goes towards supporting the Himalayan Trust. This wonderful New Zealand based charity has been committed to improving the educational outcome and health care of people in the Everest region since 1961.
